About the Role

A well-established and growing SME in the engineering and manufacturing sector is seeking a Financial Controller to join their leadership team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and supporting the Finance Director, you will play a central role in the financial management, performance reporting, and strategic decision-making of the business.

This is a hands-on position suited to a qualified (or finalist) finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced SME environment and enjoys driving operational and commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow

• Provide insightful financial commentary to senior leadership and board

• Maintain accurate WIP (Work in Progress) tracking and job costing

• Oversee credit control, aged debtor and creditor reporting

• Ensure accuracy and compliance in all transactional accounting

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

• Prepare board packs and financial dashboards

• Identify and implement process improvements within finance operations

• Support ERP or accounting software integration projects

Key Requirements

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or finalist (or equivalent experience)

• Previous experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Management Accountant role

• Background in manufacturing, engineering, or other project-based environments

• Strong understanding of WIP, cost allocation, and financial reporting

• Proficient in Excel and familiar with platforms such as Sage, Xero, or similar

• Confident communicator with experience presenting to senior stakeholders

• Strong attention to detail, organisation, and process discipline
